Wembley, a financial case for recycling

Wembley Arena, working in partnership with Coca-Cola Enterprises has introduced a recycling scheme to collect empty plastic bottles at the venue.
They have installed nineteen Maxi Envirobin, recycling bins, from LEAFIELD Environmental (Formally known as Linpac Environmental). These have been sited in the main foyers within the Wembley Arena and the first floor Concourse areas adjacent to each kiosk, vending machine and door into the auditorium.

Since their introduction up to 82% of waste has been recycled per month and typically over 60% is consistently achieved. With recycled waste costing £58 per tonne less to dispose of, compared with waste sent to landfill, the financial savings are projected to be between £2000 to £3000 per annum.

Encouraged by the success Wembley Arena is now seeking ‘Industry Green’ accreditation through Julies Bycycle which is a not-for-profit company helping the music industry cut its greenhouse gas emissions and create a low carbon creative future.

Full details of the initiative including information on the savings made are contained within aCase Study available as a download here.
